Do you have a Pre-K and/or TK program, What about Kinder?
Yes., our program is structured for children starting at the preschool level to entry into Kinder. Children at Barefoot do their PreK or TK year before entering Kindergarten. We are now offering a Kinder Program ! Contact us for more info.
Are there any camps?
Yes., We run a Spring & Summer Camp and also have extra care days throughout the year. The camps are open to all.
What approach to Early Childhood are you influenced by?
We are inspired by the highly regarding Reggio Emilia Approach and R.I.E educational philosophy. We work in small groups to ensure that all children are receiving the opportunity to thrive authentically, creating deep and meaningful relationships.
What hours do we operate?
PROGRAM HOURS
Half Day: M-F 8:00am-12:30pm
Full Day: M-Th 8:00am-5:00pm
Fri 8:00am-4:00pm
For family convenience and flexibility, you are welcome to drop off between 8:00 and 9:15 am.
Do you provide any enrichment programs?
Yes., at our child care center children enjoy many languages all around us daily including Yoga, Music and special events tailored to our community/projects. In our belief, every child is a creative child, full of potential , with the desire and right to make meaning out of life within a context of rich relationships, in many ways and using many languages. We provide the children with a learning context full of rich materials and endless possibilities. Each atelier has been designed with lots of love, thought and dedication.
How does the program overlook the childrens health and nutrition?
Developing healthy habits for our children, families, and staff is very important to us. We serve a fresh Kosher community style lunch ( cooked onsite daily). In addition we provide an am/pm snack. We do our best to practice Farm to Table and carefully select our fresh produce.
How do we resolve conflicts resolution?
We use the RIE approach to education. What is RIE? RIE is an acronym for Resources for Infant Educarers, and pronounced “wry”. RIE is not only used for infants but can be applied to toddlers and older children. As caregivers, we demonstrate respect towards the child every time we interact with them. Building a reciprocal relationship based on respect, love and nurture. The basis of the educaring approach is based on the value of RESPECT. In addition we practice a variety of mindfulness techniques learned by many mindfulness instructors we work with.
How does your school year run?
ABOUT OUR SCHOOL YEAR
Our school year starts in August and ends in August.We observe national holidays and Jewish holidays. We are closed one week in the winter, one week in spring, two weeks in the summer and two weeks at the end of summer. Overall we are closed for 6 weeks within the school year.
How do I schedule a tour?
We welcome prespective parents to come tour our school with, Karen Avital the Director of the school. She will walk you through the spaces, talk about the philosophy, rhythm of the day, community and show you examples of the childrens projects. During the tour you will have time to ask questions so please come prepared.
Once you have toured our school we will send you an application. We ask all parents to attend a tour prior to submitting an application.
Are children exposed to diversity and/or languages?
We are an eclectic and diverse community that values multiculturalism. The children are exposed to Hebrew, Spanish and English through music, books and daily interactions.
Do children need to be out of diapers before enrolling?
Absolutely not! We respect every child's rhythm and development. We encourage families to wait until their child is ready. We follow the child's lead. When you are child shows signs of toilet learning readiness we will be there to support.
How do you handle security and safety?
The children's and staff safety is of paramount importance. Our facility is secure, surveillanced and enclosed on all sides. Visitors are always met at the locked front gate by our team.
All Covid-19 precautions are taken and CDC and LA County Department of Public health guidelines implemented.
